FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This is a non-exhaustive list of some things that I find people asking often! If you're curious about anything not listed here, please do get in touch - I may not immediately know the answer, but I'm always searching for more excuses to procrastinate by tumbling into a research rabbit hole!

Are 3D prints body safe?

While 3D prints can be made body safe using epoxy coatings, this isn't something I do as standard except on specific prints, and as such I suggest that you avoid putting your prints inside any orifices! If you're desperate for something insertable, please get in touch and we can discuss. However, 3D prints are fairly cleanable (see the next answer for some more discussion), so use on external body surfaces should be fine!

What are your prints made of?

I almost exclusively use PLA filament, a biopolymer made typically from corn starch or sugar cane. It has a good mix of strength and ease-of-printing, and comes in a hilarious variety of colours. Some of my filaments also have unique properties, like fibres embedded in the plastic or extra cosmetic touches - if you're curious about any in particular, get in touch!

Can I mix and match colours?

Certainly! Pretty much any items I make can have their colours customised - the only real limit I have is that I can only fit 4 colours in a single print, but by breaking items into multiple prints or pieces, even that isn't a hard and fast limit. Embrace the rainbow!

How accurate do my measurements need to be?

Not perfect! If the measurements on talons or otherwise are off or you want them a little tighter/looser when you get them, it's fairly easy to adjust them with some hot water - the short version is that if you get some water that's not quite boiling and dunk the ring part of the talon in it for a few seconds, you'll be able to easily mold it around your finger and make it fit perfectly.

Can you clean 3D prints?

Yes! I've written about this more extensively in a rather more detailed article you can read here, but the short of it is that you can get 3D prints to a reasonable degree of cleanliness using warm water and soap, and if you really want it clean, immersion in a solution of water and bleach (about 1tbsp per gallon) will keep it food safe - although NOT sterile.

Do not put 3D printed items in boiling water or a dishwasher, as they'll deform.

Do you do custom work?

Yes! I love doing custom work, and I'm extremely willing to work with you on making an item that's exactly what you're looking for. Please feel free to email me, or DM me on Fetlife or Discord, if you have anything in mind.

Where can you deliver?

Shipping within the UK is something I understand decently well, and usually runs between £3 and £5, depending on the size of the items you've purchased. Shipping abroad is more uncharted territory, but my policy is to effectively handle shipping at-cost, so if you're outside of the UK, I can probably still deliver!
